Elective surgeries include, but are not limited to:

  • Growth removals (with or without histopathology)
  • Stomach tacking (making the stomach stay put to prevent bloat)
  • Spaying and neutering
  • Some cosmetic surgery, from birth defects or injuries

Emergency surgeries include, but are not limited to:

  • Laceration repairs
  • Canine gastropexy*
  • Dog bites
  • Porcupine quill removal
  • Broken bones and dislocations (unless they require major reconstruction)

We also have a very gifted orthopedic surgeon who travels the western slope that can be brought in for Bone related repairs, including Cruciate or knee tendon repair, broken and dislocated bones.

*  Canine gastropexy is most commonly performed in large breed dogs to prevent torsion bloat. This potentially life-threatening condition is caused by the stomach flipping over and expanding, thus trapping food and gasses in the stomach. With gastropexy, the stomach is tacked to the right side of the abdominal wall, so it cannot shift or twist.
